2022-23 Season Branding Campaign

Title:
Lead Designer, presenter

Year
2022

Marketing Brief: “Excite fans for the return of injured players, and show Denver pride in anticipation of an NBA championship win.”

Design Mission: “City texture, gritty, specific to Denver.”

Design Requirements: “Player name tag + number, must say MILE HIGH BASKETBALL, player photo.”

For the background of the Look & Feel, I used three textures that the fans would associate with a city: brick, the Denver roadmap, and a gritty texture that I handmade in Photoshop

To excite fans about important players returning from injury and Nikola Jokic being awarded the league MVP, I included two photos of the player on every graphic. The forefront photo is a close-up shot bathed in a yellow light and the background photo is scaled out and includes the full shot

Along with the primary navy branding, I created three additional color variants for Events (yellow), Ticket Sales (burgundy), and Mile High City Night (cobalt) that would catch the fans’ attention through email and social media for different promotions and games.

Email + social application for fans’ daily updates on games and events

Billboard application throughout Denver Metro

Outside application welcoming fans into Ball Arena

What I learned from designing this campaign:

I learned how to create a well-rounded design that would translate across all marketing channels like motion graphics, email campaigns, in-arena print, ticket sales, and sponsorships while evolving the Nuggets brand story. I had to keep in mind that it would be used by different designers with different skills and software so it had to be easy to work with while still being captivating to fans.

This project is the pride of my career so far because I was able to create something that was seen by thousands of fans and represented the city and the team they love.
